According to GiveMeSport journalist Ben Jacobs, the Whites are not interested in the former Leicester City forward at the moment.

The winter market is set to close on Monday night, with clubs running out of time to get deals over the line.

Iheanacho signed for Sevilla last summer, but has struggled for consistent game time with the Spanish giants.

It was reported by Football Insider earlier this month that Leeds registered an interest in the Nigeria international.

However, it is now understood that the Yorkshire outfit are not pursuing a move for Iheanacho at this time.

It was exclusively revealed by Football League World that Leeds are planning another offer for Archer after Southampton rejected an initial approach.

Daniel Farke is keen to improve his attacking options before the end of the transfer window, which closes on Monday evening at 11pm UK time.

However, it is believed that a pursuit for Iheanacho is not on the table at the moment.

Leeds are pushing for promotion to the Premier League this season, and have Joel Piroe, Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford as attacking options to choose from to lead the line.

Leeds United’s promotion bid

Leeds are going into this weekend’s latest round of action sitting top of the Championship table.

A two point lead over Sheffield United in second after 29 games has put the team in a strong position in the standings, amid competition from Burnley and Sunderland as well.

The Whites drew 0-0 with Scott Parker’s side last time out, maintaining a three point gap between the two clubs.

Next up for Leeds is a clash against Cardiff City on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off.

Iheanacho signing not needed for Leeds

Leeds still have Joseph, Piroe and Bamford to choose from for the second half of the season.

Archer makes a lot more sense as a transfer target given his age and potential, as well as his tactical flexibility.

Meanwhile, Iheanacho has struggled for the last couple of years to really show that he can contribute consistently.

The Nigerian is an experienced forward that knows how to compete in the Premier League, but he’s not the best option Leeds could be chasing now, so they are right to have their attention elsewhere.
