Leeds United will have to pay German side Hoffenheim a big chunk of money when they sell Georginio Rutter to Brighton.

The Whites are losing the services of the attacker after Brighton triggered a £40m release clause in his contract.

Daniel Farke did not want to lose Rutter, but the player is keen to step up to the Premier League.

Leeds will not bank all the money though as, due to the terms struck when they signed Rutter from Hoffenheim, the German side will be due a payment.

Hoffenheim will receive £4.2m when the move goes through, according to German magazine Kicker.

Leeds agreed to a series of add-ons when they signed Rutter from Hoffenheim and will be due a lump sum payment to reflect add-ons not reached, when the forward moves.

Hoffenheim will welcome the cash as they are trying to make signings of their own.
