Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton's exciting opening Premier League fixtures will be frustrating for Leeds United supporters.

It was an incredibly disappointing end to the season for Leeds United after they missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

The Whites looked to be in a strong position to secure automatic promotion heading into the March international break, but a run of just two wins from their final eight games saw them finish third in the table.

It seemed as though Leeds were back to their best after they comprehensively beat Norwich City 4-0 in the play-off semi-finals, but they produced another underwhelming performance as they were beaten 1-0 by Southampton in the final at Wembley last month.

The Whites are now preparing for another season in the Championship, and after achieving an impressive total of 90 points this season, they will be optimistic that they can challenge for automatic promotion again next term under the guidance of Daniel Farke.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Leeds need to raise up to £100 million in player sales after failing to win promotion, and they could be vulnerable to losing a host of key players this summer, including the likes of Archie Gray, Ilia Gruev, Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on Monday that Brighton & Hove Albion have opened talks over a potential deal for Summerville, and Farke will have to contend with another summer of uncertainty and speculation over the future of his stars.

Whites supporters will now be coming to terms with the defeat to Southampton and looking ahead to next season, but they will no doubt have felt envious as the three promoted teams found out their opening day opponents in the Premier League on Tuesday.

Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton fixture reveal will have been gutting for Leeds United supporters

The release of the fixtures for the upcoming season is one of the most eagerly anticipated days in the calendar for any football fan, and Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton supporters will surely have been delighted when they discovered who they will be facing on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

Leicester overcame a decline in form in the second half of the season to secure the Championship title, but it has been a turbulent few weeks for the club after manager Enzo Maresca departed for Chelsea, and they are waiting to find out if they will start the season with a points deduction.

The Foxes are yet to appoint Maresca's replacement, but the new manager's first game will be against Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium in a televised Monday night fixture.

Tottenham finished fifth in the Premier League this season, but they struggled for consistency in the latter stages of the campaign, and Leicester will be optimistic that they can cause an upset against Ange Postecoglou's side.

Ipswich supporters were fearful that they could lose manager Kieran McKenna this summer, but he has signed a new long-term deal at Portman Road, and the Tractor Boys will host Liverpool in their first game back in the Premier League for 22 years.

The game will be televised on Saturday lunchtime, and as well as being a big occasion for Ipswich, it will also be Arne Slot's first game in charge of Liverpool after replacing Jurgen Klopp.

Southampton make the trip to face Newcastle United at St James' Park in their opening top flight fixture, and with the Magpies aiming to improve on this season's seventh-placed finish, it should be an incredibly competitive contest.

After their play-off final victory, the Saints could cause further frustration for Leeds supporters as they are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham defender Joe Rodon, who starred on loan at Elland Road this season.

Ipswich have also been linked with a move for Rodon, and after missing out on promotion, it remains to be seen whether the Whites will be able to afford Spurs' £10 million asking price for the Welsh international.

While they do face a number of challenges this summer, Leeds should be strong in the Championship once again next season, and they will be among the promotion favourites.
