In a recent report, Leeds Live stated that Leeds United are keen on recruiting Stuttgart ace Konstantinos Mavropanos last month. It is understood that the Whites were eyeing a move for the Greek defender during the January transfer window but failed to do so.

Mavropanos’ Decent Numbers In German Football This Season

The 25-year-old is having a solid campaign in Germany as he has been responsible for producing a string of impressive performances at the centre of Stuttgart’s defence. Mavropanos has featured in 18 matches for his current club this season, registering two goals and one assist in all competitions.

The Greek talent has been a rock at the back based on his average of 2.3 tackles, 2.3 interceptions and 3.7 clearances per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from the back after making 82.5% of his attempted passes in the German first division (stats via whoscored).

The former Arsenal sensation is under contract at Stuttgart until the summer of 2025. Therefore, it won’t be easy for the Whites to get him on board if they decide to go back for him at the end of this campaign.

Should Leeds United Go Back In For Mavropanos?

Mavropanos is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his side on the defensive third of the pitch. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer of the ball as well. Mavropanos is primarily a central defender but can also fill in as a right-back if needed.

The Greek defensive ace can use his strong 1.94m frame to win his fair share of aerial duels at the back. Furthermore, he has experienced English football before during his time at Arsenal and won’t take much time settling into life at Elland Road.

Thus, it is only logical for Leeds United to retain their interest in Mavropanos as he is a quality centre-back who would no doubt enhance the quality of their starting XI.

We can expect the Greek international to add more bite and steel to the Yorkshire club‘s attack. He could even help the Whites compete for a European spot in Premier League football over the next few years. Thus, Leeds should consider going back in for him, especially if he continues to play at a high level in Germany, at the end of this campaign.
