Leeds United were interested in signing Burnley’s Charlie Taylor in the January transfer window.

But a deal failed to materialise for the 30-year-old who ended up staying at Turf Moor.

Taylor has been an important member of Vincent Kompany’s side this season, starting 21 Premier League appearances and scoring a goal.

However, he will be out of contract in June and the Whites could reignite their interest in the experienced left-back.

Taylor started his youth career at Leeds and went on to make over 100 appearances for the Yorkshire outfit.

But he left for Burnley in the summer of 2017 in a deal worth between £6 million and £7 million.

The 30-year-old has since made over 200 senior appearances for the Clarets, with 11 goal contributions to his name.

But he now faces an uncertain future at the Lancashire side, with his contract expiring in the summer.

However, Taylor refused to be drawn regarding his long-term future at Burnley, insisting he is ‘not really concentrating on anything past the summer’.

He said (as per Burnley Express): “I am not really concentrating on anything past the summer, I am just happy to be playing every week.

“I am enjoying my football and trying to do the best for this club and get us as far up the table and out of trouble as much as I possibly can.”

Taylor mainly plays as a left-back but he can also be deployed in central defence.

The 30-year-old has averaged 1.4 tackles, 0.8 interceptions and 2.7 clearances per game in the English top-flight this season.

He could be an attractive option for Leeds as they will not have to pay a fee to sign him in the summer.
