Leeds United have work to do in the transfer market after their Championship play-off final defeat, with players already leaving Elland Road after their Wembley heartbreak.

Jaidon Anthony, Connor Roberts and Joe Rodon have all left following the expiration of their loan deals, with the latter likely to be the player that's most missed by Leeds supporters.

Following their defeat against Southampton, it would be difficult to see the Whites securing the Welshman on a permanent deal, but it remains to be seen what will happen in the coming months.

There are several areas that need to be strengthened, but they will also need to keep an eye on teams who are likely to circle for some of their best players, with the likes of Willy Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville likely to attract plenty of interest during the summer transfer window.

Considering Summerville has been heavily linked with a move away in recent months, with Chelsea just one of many sides thought to be keen on the Dutchman, it seems inevitable that he will leave the club.

The whole of Leeds' left-hand side may need to be rebuilt, with wing option Anthony heading back to his parent club, Summerville potentially set to depart and Sam Byram seeing his contract expire this summer.

Luis Sinisterra was sold in January and Jack Harrison could potentially follow him out of the door, having spent the 2023/24 campaign away from Elland Road.

And there are no guarantees that Junior Firpo will stay put either, considering he has previously been linked with a move away from West Yorkshire.

According to the Daily Mail, Leeds may have to raise up to £100m in sales to ensure they are remaining within financial rules and prevent major losses.

Firpo, who only has one year left on his contract, registered eight assists in 33 competitive appearances during the 2023/24 season and this summer could be a good time to cash in on him to make up that reported nine-figure deficit.

Harrison Burrows could be a good signing for Leeds United

Peterborough United left-back Burrows will be gutted after conceding the penalty that led to Oxford United's crucial goal in the League One play-off semis earlier this month.

But he should be proud of his achievements during the 2023/24 campaign, scoring a brace to win the EFL Trophy for Posh against Wycombe Wanderers.

His goals reinforce just how much of a positive impact he made for Darren Ferguson's side last term, operating as a left-back but proving to be a real game-changer in the final third for the third-tier outfit.

His attacking skills could make him a perfect replacement for Firpo, who was a real threat out wide for Daniel Farke's side last season, with his assist for Leeds' fourth goal in the play-off semi-final second leg summing up how effective he has been when driving forward.

Burrows has already played in the second tier before, so it may not take him too long to adjust to life at Elland Road, especially with the confidence he has gained from making such an impact at the Weston Homes Stadium.

With his contract extension option being triggered this summer, the 22-year-old only has a year remaining on his current deal.

And even if Peterborough are unwilling to let him go in a cut-price deal, the Whites may have some money to spend in the transfer market if the likes of Summerville, Gnonto, and Archie Gray are all sold.

Those three players alone could potentially generate more than £100m and the money they could potentially receive from Firpo's possible departure could help the Whites fund a move for Burrows.

Not only would Burrows contribute a huge amount on the pitch, with his attacking threat able to fill the void that Firpo's departure would create, but he could also be sold on for a healthy profit in the future.

At 22, the left-back should only improve and that would increase his valuation considerably. Getting him tied down to a long-term contract would help maximise his price tag.

Even without this financial factor in mind, he's someone Leeds should be looking to pursue.

If Burrows and Gray drive the team up the pitch from out wide, that should make the Whites more positive and that can only be a good thing.

In their likely quest to win promotion back to the top tier at the second time of asking, Leeds need to remain an attacking side, because that's when they're at their best.

Burrows may have work to do defensively if he wants to be a successful full-back in the second tier, but his age suggests that he will only go on to improve in this area.

Should Firpo move on, the Peterborough star has to be on Leeds' radar.
