Leeds United could be in line for a potential financial windfall in the not too distant future, with MK Dons forward Max Dean impressing in League Two.

Leeds’ youth investment over the past few years has been impressive when the club have looked to add talent to the first-team in the long-term at minimal cost, as proved to be a fruitful avenue with Pascal Struijk and Crysencio Summerville starring in recent seasons.

However, there are a number of players who never made a debut for Leeds and were shipped off to other clubs on permanent deals, with some excelling in an alternative senior environment since.

Having come through the youth ranks with Leeds, Dean never made a senior first-team appearance for the Elland Road club, and was subsequently in last year's January transfer window, linking up with his former Leeds U-23 coach Mark Jackson at MK Dons.

While Jackson has since been sacked with Dons suffering relegation from League One, Dean remained at the club, where he is starting to catch the eye. In total, the 20-year-old has notched 14 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions for the club.

It has previously been reported that the Whites are said to have inserted a sell-on clause in the deal that saw the striker leave West Yorkshire to make the move to the Stadium:MK at the start of this year.

As a result, if Dean is to be sold by MK Dons anytime soon, that could see Leeds themselves receive a further fee for the striker. Joe Donnohue of the Yorkshire Evening Post has claimed that there is foreign interest in his services and reminded fans of the sell-on clause in his deal.

It was revealed by Alan Nixon in January that the French outfit Toulouse were willing to pay up to £1 million for his services, which was said to have surprised the fourth tier side who have seen a major upturn in fortunes since Mike Williamson took charge in mid-October.

Dean is one player to have particularly benefitted from Wlliamson's arrival, and he broke records during the game yesterday against Walsall, scoring twice and assisting twice from the bench during a 5-0 thumping to keep pace with the automatic promotion chasing sides in League Two.

Relegation to League Two has actually done the young live-wire a favour, now finding his feet in the promotion race under Williamson. Whilst, at just 20, he has plenty of time to improve even further.

The feeling is that he could become a big asset in the years to come, which would make him a sensible target for a number of teams, given the constant demand for goalscorers these days.

Not only that, but Dean is a fast and high-intensity player, capable of pressing the opposition into the ground and running the channels all game.

Given the extra financial boost it would bring Leeds, they will be hoping that his good form continues so that some of those interested parties soon decide to act on that.
