Leeds United's first second tier campaign in over three years sees them vying for automatic promotion with Daniel Farke in charge of the Elland Road outfit.
The Whites entered this season among the favourites for promotion and are in the mix again as they sit second in the Championship with the three-time Championship winner at the helm.
The race for promotion has heated up considerably for Farke's side after a flawless start to 2024, recording 11 league wins and a draw so far since the turn of the year, which not only helped close the gap to the other sides in the mix, but overtake them thanks to a victory on Friday against Sheffield Wednesday.
A blistering 2024 has seen them shoot up from fourth into the top two, having won just once in five games during the festive period prior to the current run. They face Millwall next on Sunday, looking to continue their good run, which has been particularly evident at home.
However, in the meantime, with that game looming ever closer, here we have taken a look at some of the latest news and biggest headlines coming out of Elland Road.
Leeds are casting an eye on Borussia Mönchengladbach left-back Luca Netz, according to an update from Give Me Sport.
Netz, who is only 20 at this stage, is attracting plenty of interest, though. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are also thought to be keeping tabs on the player.
However, it could be Leeds who end up making a move for Netz, but whether they end up making a bid is likely to depend on whether they are promoted at the end of the season.
They have been scouting the young German left-back with the Premier League in mind. He is also a player Farke will know well due to their time spent together last season.
Don Goodman has warned Leeds about the pitfalls of overspending to gain Premier League promotion. He has claimed that spending wisely is far better than simply spending the most of anyone, citing Chelsea as another obvious example the Whites must take warning from.
“Clubs have been chasing the Premier League dream for the best part of 20 years and overspending,” said Goodman, via MOT Leeds News.
“That is not going to change. Owners see the promised land that is the Premier League and spend unwisely.
“It has ultimately cost the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Reading, to name just a couple – they are perfect examples of that.
“You look at where those clubs are now, and neither truly got close to the Premier League despite that recruitment. “It comes down to recruitment. You stand and fall by it. “If you recruit well, you’ll achieve your objectives, or at least come close to doing so, whether that is survival, consolidation or in more cases attempting to get to the Premier League. “It’s about spending your money wisely and not breaking the bank. “It’s not always about who spends the most money – just look at Chelsea as an exaggerated example.
“It’s not about how much you spend but how wisely you spend it.”
Leeds United are not planning to offer left-back Junior Firpo a new contract, according to Phil Hay of The Athletic.
The full-back has made 21 appearances for the Whites so far this season, contributing five assists, including during Friday's game against Sheffield Wednesday.
The 27-year-old joined the West Yorkshire outfit in the summer of 2021 from Barcelona, but has struggled to ever cement himself as a key figure in the squad, due to persistent injury issues.
reported that Leeds will be willing to listen to offers for the player in the summer, irrespective of which league they are in.
