Leeds United are reportedly in talks with Celtic over the potential transfer for Leo Hjelde. The Premier League club could be the latest club to steal one of Celtic’s best and brightest talents out of Lennoxtown with Liam Morrison, Barry Hepburn and Armstrong Oko-Flex all leaving the club for ‘Top 5 Leagues’.

The Norwegian, who spent the second half of last season on loan with Ross County, is reportedly a target of Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United. As reported by The Athletic, the Elland Road side are in talks with Celtic over a potential transfer deal for the 18-year-old.

Celtic poached Hjelde from the Norwegian side in 2019 and he is well thought of within the club, a move to Dingwall has aided his progression and bolstered his chances of becoming a first-team player at Celtic down the line. Hjelde made the bench in the 1-1 draw with Hibs at the beginning of the year but he may get an opportunity if Ange Postecoglou comes in that fancies giving the youngster a run in the team. The Australian boss has featured the defender in pre-season but the news that Hjelde is currently in talks with Leeds would be demoralising for the club as it is another highly-rated youngster being lured South.
