Leeds United's stellar form in 2024 continued on Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 success over Millwall at Elland Road.

That result meant that Daniel Farke's men became the seventh side to lead the Championship across the 2023-24 season, having overtaken Leicester City on goal difference prior to the final international break of the campaign.

The Whites have produced a number of strong displays in the recent weeks since gaining momentum which nobody is yet to stop since the turn of the year, and there is one man within the side who continues to catch the eye of many Premier League sides.

Fresh Archie Gray, Leeds United update revealed

Archie Gray has been the standout young prospect in the second tier this term, having only made his senior and club debut on the opening day of the season against Cardiff City at Elland Road.

Since that 2-2 draw on August 6, the 18-year-old has been a real asset to Leeds this season with his versatility and mature performances that have unsurprisingly caught the eye of many clubs in the Premier League - regardless of his boyhood club's ambition to make an instant return after being relegated ten months ago.

There has been constant speculation across the campaign regarding Gray's future, which included reports in November claiming that Liverpool were readying themselves for a bid in excess of £40 million to acquire the youngster's services.

And whilst United were able to fend off any January interest and tie the central midfielder turned right-back to a long-term contract, a fresh update on such transfer speculation has been revealed on Monday morning.

That's according to Football Insider, who claim that Leeds' resolve "will be tested" when it comes to keeping hold of their sought-after academy graduate, as multiple suitors circle over a potential summer deal.

However, one crumb of comfort for Leeds fans is the report claims that any final decision on such matters will come down to Gray, who has also been linked with bitter rivals Manchester United recently, as well as prior interest from Everton and Crystal Palace.

As previously mentioned, this campaign could've hardly panned out much better for the youngster, and to be targeted by top flight clubs just months after his professional debut is a testament to Gray's footballing ability and mentality in equal measure.

Whilst Leeds fans will understandably be worried over potentially losing his services, although such circumstances would be of a greater probability if promotion wasn't secured in the next two months, it showcases his rapid development even further that Liverpool were readying such a fee back in November, and the figure Leeds demand will have surely increased in the following four months.

Gray's quality has shone through in midfield but particularly at right-back, where he's become a mainstay in the side - continuing to outperform the experienced Luke Ayling who has since gone on loan to Middlesbrough, as well as January addition Connor Roberts.

Such sentiments have been echoed by England boss Gareth Southgate in recent days, who has a number of highly-tipped prospects that will come into his thinking process in the coming months for a first chance of making the senior Three Lions squad.

"There are some players with the Under-21s who are doing exceptionally well, especially in midfield," Southgate said via the Yorkshire Evening Post.
