A Leeds United fan has apparently fallen from the top tier in Stamford Bridge and landed on a match day steward in Chelsea’s FA Cup clash against Leeds United last night.
Chelsea won the game 3-2 thanks to a very late winner from substitute Conor Gallagher, but things could have been much worse for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who were poor on the night.
However, the game ended in fear for one visiting fan, who fell from the Chelsea stands early in the game celebrating their goal.
The Athletic report a Leeds United fan reportedly fell from the top tier of Chelsea’s away end to the lower tier in last night’s game, celebrating Leeds first goal. According to eyewitnesses as cited by the publication, the fan landed on a steward before being taken to the hospital.
Leeds and Chelsea said in a statement that an incident involving a supporter occurred “during the first-half of tonight’s FA Cup game”. They added that the matter “is being investigated and is in the hands of the emergency services”.
We obviously hope that the fan is OK and hasn’t sustained any bad injuries and also, that the steward is OK.
