Leeds United are interested in talented young Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson. The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at League One side Lincoln City and was one of their best attackers.

As per The Athletic, Leeds United have put the Wales international on their radar, but Forest want to offer him a new contract to keep clubs at bay. Johnson made eight appearances for Nottingham Forest in the 2019-20 season, and played 49 times for Lincoln last season during his loan spell.

The Welshman scored 13 goals and 14 assists for the League One side in the 2020-21 season. The English-born attacker made his Wales debut last year and has played twice for the national team.

Brennan Johnson – An exciting prospect for Leeds United?

Brennan Johnson is one of many young, exciting Welsh attackers that have emerged in the last few seasons.

The Forest player is primarily a winger, who plays on the left side, but he has played centrally as a forward, as well as a right-sided winger and an attacking midfielder. Johnson is a versatile player who can play in a number of positions and roles for his team.

He likes to cut into the central areas with his strong right foot, and often finds himself in the right position on the pitch. Johnson is a quick and confident dribbler, and also a good finisher in and around the box.

In 43 League One games, Johnson averaged 2.3 shots and 1.4 dribblers per game. His speed and dribbling makes him a good player in counter-attacking situations.

The young winger could be a decent addition to the Leeds United squad and be used as a backup option in the wide areas. The Whites have just one natural left-sided player in Jack Harrison, who joined the club on a permanent deal recently after spending three seasons on loan at the club.

Helder Costa and Raphinha can both play on the left, but are more suited to the right side role, where they can cut in from the wide position.

Johnson has the potential to be a good Premier League player and would fit in well in an attacking side like Leeds. He could be used in rotation, Cup games, and maybe as a late impact substitute, where he can use his pace, dribbling and finishing to cause trouble to opposition defences.

The Nottingham Forest winger is certainly one for the future and could be a good investment for the Whites.
