Leeds United are now likely to make an approach to West Bromwich Albion regarding the services of their manager Carlos Corberan, according to the Daily Mirror.

The ex-Huddersfield Town boss has been heavily linked with a return to Elland Road, where he spent time as a coach before moving on to the John Smith’s Stadium and guiding the Terriers into the play-offs.

His spell at Olympiacos earlier this season may not have worked out – but he is currently thriving at The Hawthorns after succeeding Steve Bruce – with the 39-year-old managing to transform Albion from relegation candidates to genuine promotion contenders.

Who is the club's current no. 1?

Alex Palmer Josh Griffiths David Button Boaz Myhill

Leeds, on the other hand, are struggling down at the bottom end of the Premier League and with this, it came as no surprise when Jesse Marsch was relieved of his duties yesterday following their 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

There have been mixed reports regarding whether Corberan is currently in pole position to succeed the American, with the 39-year-old’s links to the top job in West Yorkshire making sense considering his previous links to the club.

But the Daily Mirror is one outlet that believes the Whites will end up making an approach for him, although he may be one of several candidates at this stage.

The Verdict:

From Leeds’ point of view, this is probably a risky appointment because the ex-Huddersfield boss hasn’t got any experience of managing in the top flight and that’s something that may prove disadvantageous to them if they did move for their former coach.

With Sean Dyche being appointed at Everton, you feel the Whites could have sacked him earlier and brought the ex-Burnley boss in, something that may have given them a real chance of staying up.

However, there’s a reason why they have taken an interest in Corberan and that’s because he’s managed to prove himself in England already despite his tender age.

His coaching has proved to be a real game-changer in the Midlands and you would definitely back him to guide the Baggies to a top-six finish at the end of the season.

That’s why Albion should be looking to do everything they can to retain him, although that could prove to be impossible considering the stature of the Whites and the fact he has already spent a decent amount of time in West Yorkshire before his switch to The Hawthorns.
