In a recent report, The Irish Sun claimed that Leeds United are locked in a three-way battle for Middlesbrough attacker Finn Azaz. It has been mentioned that the Whites would have to compete with Bournemouth and Crystal Palace in the race to land the Republic of Ireland international this summer.

Azaz’s Impressive Season At Elland Road

Azaz enjoyed a productive campaign in the EFL Championship recently as he managed to put in a lot of impressive performances for Middlesbrough in the final third. The 24-year-old has found the back of the net 12 times and secured 11 assists in 46 matches for the Boro last season across multiple competitions.

The Irish talent caught the eye with his offensive contributions after he averaged 3.12 shots per game in the EFL Championship. He has also kept 32.5% of his attempts on target. However, Azaz needs to improve his ball distribution in the final third based on his pass success rate of 68.3% in the second tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Riverside Stadium will expire in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for Leeds to land him on the cheap in this transfer window.

Azaz is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He has got the vision to orchestrate some inviting chances for others around him in the final third.

The Irish sensation can shoot the ball with venom from long range and can chip in by scoring and creating a lot of goals up top. However, there are some concerns over whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if the Whites end up signing him in this summer transfer period.

We can expect Azaz to inject more quality into Leeds United boss Daniel Farke’s attack. He is good enough to help the West Yorkshire club fight across all fronts in the coming years.

At 24, Azaz has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good option for the Whites to consider this off-season. He would be well worth the fight, so Farke should try to step up his efforts to sign him soon.
