Leeds and Sheffield United are among a number of clubs eyeing a move for ex-Huddersfield Town winger Brahima Diarra

Championship pair Leeds United and Sheffield United may currently be tussling for automatic promotion to the Premier League right now, but another battle is potentially set to take place away from the pitch with a move for ex-Huddersfield Town wide-man Brahima Diarra mooted.

Just six fixtures remain of the 2025/26 Championship campaign ahead of a promotion race which is poised to go right down to the wire, and neither Daniel Farke or Chris Wilder yet know what division their sides will be competing in come August.

Leeds have slipped out of the top-two following a dramatic loss in form in recent weeks, compounded by a three-match winless run which was extended with Saturday's draw at Luton - their third in as many matches.

The Blades, meanwhile, saw their top spot prized away by Burnley over the weekend as they dropped points away to another side battling against relegation in Oxford United, who edged them out by one goal to nil at the Kassam Stadium.

But the two Yorkshire sides are both seemingly motoring on with their transfer efforts regardless of the outcome of their respective promotion bids, and have each been linked with Diarra's signature.

Leeds United, Sheffield United interested in ex-Huddersfield Town man Brahima Diarra

According to a recent report from Africa Foot, Leeds and Sheffield United are among a number of clubs eyeing a move for Diarra, who is currently with UAE top-flight outfit Al-Wahda.

Diarra is also said to have interest from the likes of relegation-bound Leicester City, Sivasspor, Trabzonspor, Young Boys and UAE trio Sharjah FC, Al Wasl and Al-Ain, with the latter reportedly tabling a £2.5 million bid.

It is not yet clear whether that will be enough to land Diarra, who joined Al-Wahda just last summer and has impressed since completing the move.

From 20 appearances, the young winger has registered six goals and two assists and, still aged just 21, is clearly a desirable signing for a number of clubs across the globe.

Leeds United, Sheffield United will be familiar with ex-Huddersfield Town man Brahima Diarra

Diarra's name is known throughout the second-tier, with the Malian attacker having spent two seasons in Huddersfield's first-team before moving to the Middle East.

After a productive loan spell with Harrogate Town, Diarra clocked up 20 and 21 appearances in the Championship for Huddersfield in 2022/23 and 2023/24.

The lively winger showed encouraging glimpses in West Yorkshire but was unable to keep the Terriers up last term, although he did enough to convince Al-Wahda to take a punt on his services and his game has now seemingly developed rather strongly.

Diarra is a very exciting prospect and it will be interesting to see if he fancies a swift return to English football, or indeed Yorkshire, with either Leeds or Sheffield United, this summer.
