Few people would envy the amount of work Leeds United and Ipswich Town's recruitment teams will need to do between now and the summer transfer window.
Leeds have done well in the transfer market and Nicky Hammond can probably take a lot of credit for that.
But the Whites can't afford to rest on their laurels - and they may need to sign quite a few players in the summer if they are promoted - as they look to secure a long-term stay in the Premier League.
Even if they stay down though, they may need to recruit a high volume of signings, with some key players potentially set to leave.
The Whites may already have some contingency plans in place from quite a while ago though.
Ipswich, on the other hand, wouldn't have been expecting to compete for back-to-back promotions, even though their manager Kieran McKenna is one of the most talented managers in the EFL.
They will also need to create different transfer strategies based on the division they could be in next season, but like Leeds, the Tractor Boys will also need to keep an eye on players leaving as well as signings this summer.
One area of the market that both sides are likely to be shopping in is the left-back department - because of potential departures.
The Athletic have reported that Junior Firpo is unlikely to be offered a new deal, with his current one expiring in the summer of 2025.
With this in mind, it's no surprise that the same outlet have claimed that the Whites would be open to offers for the player during the summer.
With Firpo potentially going and Sam Byram unlikely to be a long-term option for the West Yorkshire outfit, it would be highly surprising if a new left-back didn't arrive at Elland Road during the next window.
They could have up to £100m to play with if they do go up, so this is an area they could address, whilst also strengthening other aspects of their team.
Leif Davis has attracted plenty of interest from Premier League teams in recent times, with Newcastle United and West Ham both being linked with a move for the former Leeds man.
Nottingham ForestTWTD, but it remains to be seen whether they have the funds and are able to get a deal over the line for him with the Reds in Financial Fair Play bother.
Not only has he adapted to the second tier extremely well, but he has also continued to be a major asset in the final third, like he was last season.
If the Tractor Boys aren't promoted at the end of the campaign, it wouldn't be a major surprise to see Davis depart.
With his contract effectively expiring in two years, with the 12-month extension option in mind, the summer may be the best time to sell him.
