Leeds United are hopeful that Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson could be tempted to join them as he would be guaranteed to play every week under manager Daniel Farke, according to the Sun.

The Elland Road club are looking for Premier League experience in the final third following their return to the top-flight, and the 33-year-old Magpies star has emerged as a target after a return of 88 goals and 25 assists in 239 league appearances in the division.

Newcastle have told Wilson they have decided against taking up their one-year option in his contract, but negotiations over a new deal are ongoing.

It is slightly more incentive-based as the new offer is on reduced terms and based on appearances.

He could seek to move elsewhere having become a cover for Alexander Isak over the last two seasons, and Leeds are offering him an opportunity to play regularly, with Everton also keen.

The former Bournemouth star will fancy his chances of still producing the goods at this level after bagging 28 goals across the 2022-23 and 2023-24 campaigns, and the Whites could do with his experience and quality within their ranks.

Joel Piroe led their attack this season, weighing in with 19 goals and seven assists in 46 Championship appearances to help them secure promotion, but Farke needs someone who knows what it takes to lead the line in the Premier League to support the 25-year-old Dutchman, and Wilson fits the bill.

He will be available for free if he rejects the contract Newcastle have offered him, and he will be getting more money and minutes from Leeds should he join them.

Moving to Everton could be more tempting as the Toffees will be playing in a new stadium next season, and he has an opportunity to make a name for himself with their fanbase at their new ground.
