Leeds United have been relegated from the Premier League following a 4-1 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur today.

The Yorkshire side went into the game needing a win to keep their hopes of survival alive, and they couldn’t have made a much worse start.

With his first touch of the afternoon, Harry Kane swept into the top corner from Heung-min Son’s pass.

The hosts sought an equaliser, and almost drew level straight away. Rodrigo picked out Robin Koch with a cross, but the German could only head wide.

They continued to press for a leveller but were unable to find the target. Koch headed another effort wide, and Rasmus Kristensen fired over from a corner. The half-time whistle went, with the visitors one ahead.

The second half started in the same fashion as the first, as Spurs doubled their lead.

Pascal Struijk made a mess of an interception from Kane’s pass, allowing Pedro Porro enough time to pick his spot and fire into the far corner.

Leeds were given some chance of a comeback in the 67th minute when they pulled a goal back. Substitute Georginio Rutter set up Jack Harrison, who brilliantly found the bottom corner.

But that glimmer of hope was dashed almost instantly. Porro fed Kane, and he finished into the corner. This was the forward’s 30th league goal of the season, equalling his best-ever tally.

Tottenham put the finishing touches on a strong performance late in the game. On his last game for the club, Lucas Moura gave the fans a perfect parting gift, weaving past three Leeds defenders before slotting in from inside the box.

Despite the victory, the north Londoners finished outside the top seven due to Aston Villa’s win over Brighton & Hove Albion. For the first time since 2009, they failed to qualify for Europe.

The defeat saw Leeds relegated. The ast time they went down from the top flight, it took them 16 seasons to return.

Leeds United

Joel Robles (6/10) – Not a whole lot he could’ve done about any of the goals. Made a couple of saves to keep the score down.

Luke Ayling (3/10) – Very shaky. Out of position for Kane’s second and beaten far too easily by Moura for his goal.

Rasmus Kristensen (4/10) – Struggled all afternoon with the threat of Kane. Also could have done more to prevent Moura’s goal.

Maximilian Wober (4/10) – Booked early on. Didn’t do enough against Tottenham’s frontline.

Liam Cooper (5/10) – Tried his hardest, but far from his best.

Pascal Struijk (3/10) – At fault for Porro’s goal. Poor throughout.

Weston McKennie (5/10) – Fairly quiet. Substituted early in the second half.

Adam Forshaw (5/10) – Battled and scrapped in midfield but lost most of his challenges.

Robin Koch (6/10) – Showed some threat. Perhaps should have done better with a couple of chances in the first half.

Jack Harrison (7/10) – Often looked like Leeds’ best player. Took his goal excellently.

Rodrigo (6/10) – Created one glorious chance for Koch early on. Often found himself isolated and feeding off scraps.

Fraser Forster (6/10) – Rarely called into action. Couldn’t do anything about Harrison’s goal.

Emerson Royal (6/10) – Energetic down the right. Occasionally given some problems by Harrison.

Davinson Sanchez (7/10) – Coped fairly well with the Leeds frontline. Let little past him.

Clement Lenglet (7/10) – Good on the ball and solid at the back.

Ben Davies (6/10) – Perhaps could have got tighter to Harrison for the goal. Otherwise solid.

Pedro Porro (8/10) – A real threat going forward. Brilliant finish for his goal and also grabbed an assist.

Yves Bissouma (7/10) – Won his battle in midfield. Calm on the ball and combative.

Oliver Skipp (7/10) – A decent display at the heart of midfield. Put himself about and produced a few nice touches.

Dejan Kulusevski (5/10) – Got into some good areas but unable to make anything happen in the final third.

Harry Kane (9/10) *MOTM* – A cut above the rest once again. Produced two brilliant finishes and also played a huge part in Porro’s goal.

Heung-min Son (7/10) – Assisted the opener. Showed some threat with his pace in behind.
