Leeds United are prioritising signing backup for striker Patrick Bamford in the remainder of the summer transfer window, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Jesse Marsch has overseen a hectic summer at Elland Road but there is still plenty of time for more movement before the September 1 deadline.

What is the latest transfer news from Leeds?

With Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha sold to Manchester City and Barcelona, it is no surprise the Yorkshire giants have been so busy this summer.

Six new signings have been made so far this summer with just over £90 million splashed on the likes of Tyler Adams, Brenden Aaronson and Marc Roca but Marsch seems intent on bolstering his front-line further.

Ligue 1 marksmen Martin Terrier and Arnaud Kalimuendo have both been linked with moves to the club. The Leeds boss said he was expecting imminent business ahead of their opening Premier League clash with Wolves.

“I think we’re really trying to again be very precise with exactly who we want and what we need for the next steps in this transfer window. We have some time,” he said.

“I think we’ll probably make one addition next week and then we’re continuing to look at what else is out there.”

What has Jones said about Leeds search?

The transfer insider believes that recruiting some direct back-up for Bamford remains the club’s top priority ahead of the final weeks of the transfer window.

He says the striker’s injury record continues to be a matter of concern for the club.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “They are worried about what happens if Bamford gets injured, what happens in that position, because they still haven’t got it filled and there are young players you could try, but I personally think that’s where they’re slightly concerned right now.”

Do Leeds need another striker?

Without a doubt this an area that Leeds need to strengthen in. While Bamford has proven he has the quality to lead the line in the topflight, his injury record means he sadly cannot be relied on too heavily.

In total, Bamford missed a whopping 32 matches with various fitness issues last season and it is no coincidence it was one that almost resulted in relegation.

Either Terrier or Kalimuendo would be exciting recruits, but it is crucial that someone arrives who has the ability to fill the England international’s boots.
