Next season will mark the 100th birthday of Leeds United and it looks like they are planning to celebrate with a commemorative club crest.

The crest – which will be worn on the club’s shirts for the 2019/20 season only – was leaked by the club on season ticket ads sent out on Tuesday.

It isn’t vastly different to the current badge but it does feature the words ‘Leeds United 100 years’ at the bottom.

United fans will no doubt relieved to find that it’s nothing like the ridiculous Pro Evolution Soccer-esque design which emerged when the club were planning to change their badge 12 months ago.

The Elland Road outfit turn 100 in October this year and a number of centenary events are planned to mark the occasion.

A club spokesperson told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “The slightly modified crest will feature on the club’s 2019-20 kits and training range as well as a wide variety of exclusive centenary-led products and services.

“The amendment has been made in order to add the words ‘Leeds United 100 years’ wording to the club badge.”
