Leeds: Marsch could look at Bundesliga for new winger at Elland Road

Leeds United have “always been on the lookout” for another winger, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

Jesse Marsch’s side have welcomed six new faces to Elland Road this season, but only one of those has been a winger.

What’s the latest on Leeds?

Luis Sinisterra arrived from Feyenoord in July for a fee of £21m, with the club looking to reinvest in the playing squad, after the departures of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha to Manchester City and Barcelona respectively, for a combined price of roughly £100m this summer.

The club have spent just under £100m so far this summer, and are still reportedly active in the transfer market, with the money from the aforementioned sales still not completely spent.

Marsch will be delighted with the way his new signings performed in the club’s 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the opening weekend of the Premier League season, but will still be looking for additions this summer.

And Crook believes that the club could turn to the Bundesliga for wide recruitments ahead of the window’s closure in September.

What has Crook said about Leeds?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “They’ve [Leeds] always been on the lookout for another winger, again I don’t necessarily have an extensive list of names.

“I think my guess would be that it would probably be somebody from the Bundesliga, that Jesse Marsch knows from that division, so I think there’s still a possibility of a couple of arrivals.”

What’s the latest on Leeds?

Leeds have been linked with a number of wingers from Europe this summer, though not necessarily from the Bundesliga.

PSV Eindhoven and Netherlands international Cody Gakpo is arguably the highest profile name linked with a potential move to the Whites this summer, and according to the Mirror, Leeds would have to pay £40m for the Dutchman’s services this transfer window, though the club will face competition from Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United.

Rennes wide-man Martin Terrier has also been linked with a move to Elland Road this summer, and it’s thought that the club would have to pay the Ligue 1 club £34m for the Frenchman’s services.

It’s very possible that the Elland Road club could sign a winger who is currently not being linked to the club at the moment, in line with Crook’s comments.

And with Marsch’s history of managing RB Leipzig in Germany, it would make sense to see the club make a move for a Bundesliga winger this summer, with the manager likely having an extensive knowledge of German football.
