Leeds have reportedly been ‘left furious’ after a deal for Swansea winger Daniel James collapsed on deadline day.

The Championship leaders were said to have agreed a €2m loan fee, with an obligation to sign the 21-year-old for €8m should they earn Premier League promotion.

According to the Telegraph, James passed a medical in Leeds on Thursday, before the transfer fell through due to disagreements over payment structures.

James’ agent, David Manasseh, told Telegraph Sport: “Swansea made no attempt to keep the player and at the first sign of money they couldn’t show him the door quickly enough.

“It is very disappointing but the player is philosophical about it.”

The report also hints at a conflict between Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins and the club’s owners, Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien, over the sale of the winger.

Regardless, Leeds are likely to return for the winger this summer and James insists he will not sign a new deal.
