Leeds fans with very surprising comments ahead of taking on Newcastle tonight

Leeds fans were forced to watch from home last season, as their club finally climbed back into the Premier League after more than a decade and a half away.

It proved to be almost worth waiting fully 16 years for, as Marcelo Bielsa had his team playing exhilarating attacking football.

Not only that, it was exciting football that saw Leeds pick up points, yes they had matchdays when it all went wrong, but on more than enough days it all came together.

Bielsa’s team proving a team greater than the sum of their individual parts, ending up in ninth place on 59 points, having scored 62 goals, only five Premier League teams scoring more last season.

Newcastle fans watched on in envy, as the Leeds football was in stark contrast to the boring negative rubbish served up on a regular basis by Steve Bruce. Leeds ending up with 14 more points than Newcastle, 16 more goals scored, plus conceding 8 less than NUFC.

Interesting then to see the comments from Leeds fans, many Newcastle supporters will be very surprised at the opposing fans tonight trying to outdo them for negativity about their respective teams!

Leeds are missing a number of players and may not have hit the heights of last season so far, but they have only been beaten by Man Utd and Liverpool, whilst Everton are top four and a draw at Burnley doesn’t look too bad.

Newcastle have only had one clean sheet in the Premier League at St James Park throughout these nine months of 2021, whilst NUFC have only registered three PL wins at home since December 2020.

Who will win the battle of negativity tonight….let the least worst side win!

Leeds fans commenting via their Marching On Together message board:

‘8pm kick off Friday night in the city centre.

Christ who’s decision was that!!

I hate to say this..but I see a load of trouble.

Think Newcastle will edge this 1-0.’

‘It kicked off in a night game the last time we were up there when Wood scored a last minute equaliser.’

‘Mike Ashley is the real-life Jabba the Hutt.

He’s content to keep Newcastle at the very baseline of Premier League survival, just enough to keep them profitable.

We’ve had our good owners and bad owners, but at least they are extremes that you either enjoy the good times with or wait for the storm to pass. Ashley and his clueless sycophants are exactly what you don’t want in an owner – someone who will keep you in a constant limbo, unable to improve and progress.

We had to go through 16 years of hell to be where we are now, but at least change was constant in that time, for better or worse. Eventually it changed for the absolute better.

The Mags have no such prospects unless this takeover happens.’

‘Thankfully Callum Wilson isn’t playing but guessing that horrible tw.t Gayle might get a run out.

2 – 2 Bambi, Dallas.’

‘I’m going to this game, will be watching from the sky :lol.

At least we are not crammed in like sardines as we are at Elland Road, plenty of legroom when I need my half-time sit down, so much room there it’s like sitting in a reclining chair.’

‘The air gets a bit thin up there mate, so you might need some oxygen with you. It’ll come in handy when Cooper starts with the shirt pulling.’

‘Or when the maskless masses start coughing, sneezing and cheering all around you…’

‘I’ll be wearing my mask unlike the majority of football fans, hope I don’t collaspe with the thin air 😆 stood there helplessly watching our back four defending like chumps through my telescope.’

‘It’s a wonder Ashley hasn’t installed them PPV telescopes that used to be on the piers, 3 seconds for a quid.

Then again you wouldn’t wanna scope Broocie’s bonce, you could be scarred for life mate, at least he makes me feel very handsome.’

‘I just hope Newcastle are worse than we are right now, i genuinely struggle to see us keeping a clean sheet at the minute with another makeshift defence.

I thought we were going to be comfortable this season at CB and here we are again with only Coops available out of the 4.

This is a pivotal game already to gain some momentum.’

‘Fortunately for us, Callum Wilson is injured.

But if we can’t compete with Newcastle with a few of our players missing, then it clearly shows that our squad isn’t strong enough.’

‘Heard that Harrison has covid and raph is a doubt, also rumours about bamford, looking like it’s going to be a much weakened side tonight. If Newcastle can’t beat us with half our team out they really do have no hope.’

‘Think Maxim will enjoy himself tonight.’

‘Our squad isn’t strong enough, a few key injuries and we’re down to our bare bones.

We also need to consider player fatigue and form on top of that. We had the entire summer to really build on the success of last season, but have failed to sufficiently.

The square peg philosophy is not really working at the moment, it just leaves us looking further exposed and amateurish at times.

We really need to get a result tonight against a poor Newcastle side, irrespective of injuries.’

‘I know the Toon are no great shakes but if Harrison and Raph are out along with all our other missing troops I just can’t see anything but a defeat.’

‘Manure/City/Chelsea and Liverpool are in a league of their own.. I’m just hoping we do well in the tier down – Spurs/Arsenal/Leicester/Everton and West Ham… if we can finish among that bunch, maybe 9th, it’ll be a good season.’

‘If there ever was a good time to play us then it’s right now.

We had a dreadful pre-season and have been dire in our first 4 matches, even Burnley looked more cohesive than us.

We are struggling to string two passes together. Other than Kalvin the midfield is none existent, to the extent that the likes of Tarkowski and Maguire are trundling right through our CM.

We are a pale imitation of what we were last season, the confidence, crisp passing, high energy press, relentless energy, and the competent defending (from the second half of last season) has all vanished.

Scum and Liverpool could both have scored a bucket more than the chances they put away.

We failed to address our squad deficiencies in the summer, particularly in CM. Our Chairman even had the front to say Adam Forshaw, whose been out with a serious hip condition for two years and is injured again, was the answer to our midfield vacuum, you couldn’t make it up.

Newcastle have their own problems with Ashley and the dinosaur Bruce, but if they cannot get a win against our shocking (and further weakened) defence, non-existent midfield and toothless attack, then Newcastle will be prime candidates for going down with Norwich and Watford.

Our performances have been shocking so I’ll accept any kind of win on Friday night, as we’ve got West Ham after that.’

‘I shouldn’t think there’ll be much in it on friday neet, we’re not the same team as last year, have a woeful defence a woeful midfield carving very little chances and a woeful attack finishing very little of the very little chances created.

I wish we had St Max in our threadbare team.

We aint panicking just yet, we have the ability to turn things around , but that’s down to the manager’s reluctance to accept change, will he, won’t he !!

I have a few good mates from Newcastle and I’m very well versed with the Ashley regime, we had it with Bates the crook for far too long, at the moment we are in a much better state than we were 3 seasons back, we have good infrastructure, the backers need to show their real intent imho and let us know where we are heading.’
