Bas Dost has commented on Leeds United target Noa Lang…

What’s the talk?

Club Bruges forward Bas Dost has opened up on Leeds United target Noa Lang, admitting that he has spoken with the forward about his future. He has also defended the winger by claiming that he is a very good person and does not deserve the criticism he receives regarding his behaviour.

“New players are always coming. We sometimes talk about the future. Noa is open to that, he shows a lot of respect for older players, sometimes asks things. That is so nice about Noa.

“He sometimes gets criticised from the outside about his behaviour.

“But I work with him every day and I can say, he is just a really good guy.

“Of course he will have to decide for himself which way he takes.”

Bielsa would love him

Leeds chief Victor Orta must sanction a deal to sign Lang this summer as he could be a terrific addition to the squad and these comments from Dost suggest that he has the attitude required to succeed. Despite, as Dost puts it, outside noise suggesting otherwise, Lang is seemingly a nice person and that means that he could fit in well at Elland Road and want to work hard to improve himself as a player.

The attacker enjoyed a terrific campaign in Belgium with Bruges, producing 16 goals and seven assists in 26 starts for the club following his move from Ajax. He averaged a terrific WhoScored rating of 7.31, whilst creating 1.8 chances per game for his teammates.

Speaking of his teammates, Bruges forward Cyriel Dessers recently lavished praise on Lang and called him a graceful footballer, lauding him as one of the best players in Belgium. He said: “He is absolutely ready for the Premier League. He was fantastic last season. Then it is logical that there is a next step.  I would love to see him in the Champions League with Club Brugge, but he has shown that he is one of the best footballers in Belgium.

“He is a graceful footballer, but he also works very hard. I often sat on the bench, so I could keep an eye on him there. But the way he works, I didn’t know he had that in him. He has really taken a step. The interest does not come out of nowhere. I know how Leeds work.”

The £19.8m-rated gem could, therefore, be a player Bielsa would love to work with. He has already shown that he can produce consistently brilliant performances in Belgium, scoring and creating goals frequently, and the Argentine coach would be delighted to have a player of his quality in his squad. Bielsa could continue to help him on the training pitch to develop him into a player capable of setting the Premier League alight.

Raphinha was the only Leeds player who managed more key passes per game last season in comparison to Lang, whilst only Patrick Bamford scored more goals. This suggests that the Dutchman would be a shrewd addition to the attacking ranks as he could up the overall quality of the squad.
