Leeds United could move for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Hwang Hee-chan before the 11pm deadline, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

Jesse Marsch has overseen a hectic summer of business at Elland Road but could still add to his squad ahead of the window slamming shut tonight.

What is the latest on Hwang?

According to The Athletic, Leeds have already had a £17 million offer rejected for the 26-year-old this summer, with the structure of the deal not to the liking of Wolves.

Hwang only made his move to Molineux permanent earlier in the transfer window and signed a contract until 2026, following an initial season on loan from RB Leipzig, but could be on the move again soon.

Wolves have completed the signing of Stuttgart ace Sasa Kalajdzic, potentially pushing the South Korea international further down Bruno Lage’s pecking order.

Fabrizio Romano has added that Leeds are considering a move for Hwang as a potential replacement for Daniel James, who has been linked with a surprise move to Tottenham.

The journalist adds that PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo is also on their list of targets for the remaining hours of the window.

What has Sheth said on a potential deal?

Sheth understands that Wolves may be more willing to do business with Leeds for Hwang now they have completed the signing of Kalajdzic.

The Sky Sports reporter says that Hwang will likely remain a target throughout the day.

Sheth told GIVEMESPORT: “The Wolves striker could be the one that they go for, in Hwang, simply because Sasa Kalajdzic of Stuttgart has completed his move to Wolves. I just wonder whether Wolves will now do business on Hwang.”

Would Hwang be a good signing for Leeds?

He has perhaps not had as big an impact as expected at Wolves, scoring just five times in 36 games so far.

However, he is a player who has shown previously that he thrives in Marsch’s system. In 40 appearances under the American, Hwang scored 16 goals and provided a further 23 assists for Red Bull Salzburg. He boasts an impressive career total of 65 goals too.

There is no doubt that Leeds could do with added depth in the striking department too. Patrick Bamford made his return from injury on Tuesday night but, having missed 30 matches last term, Marsch cannot afford to risk being without a frontman again.

Hwang could therefore be a perfect fit at Leeds but it will be interesting to see whether he’d be happy playing as a backup to Bamford.
