Leeds chief Radrizzani could land bargain as ‘serious’ Italy-based negotiations get underway – Kieran Maguire | OneFootball

Italian club Salernitana is the perfect opportunity for Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani to launch his multi-club empire.

That is according to finance guru and Football Insider columnist Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively with Radrizzani reportedly set for takeover talks at the soon-to-be Serie A club.

Salerno-based newspaper Le Cronach (via Leeds Live on 12th June) claim that the Leeds supremo will meet with Salernitana representatives ahead of a final decision next week.

Regime change at the club has been necessitated due to a conflict of interest involving current owner Claudio Lotito, who also owns Lazio.

Salernitana were promoted from Serie B in 2020-21 and no two clubs in a single division are permitted to be under the same ownership umbrella.

This means Lotito is in a race against time to find a buyer and that may work in Radrizzani’s favour, according to Maguire.

“There is an existing discount with regards to the Covid environment,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“There is also a deadline as far as Lotito is concerned. He will either have to have sold the club or prove to the Italian authorities that he is seriously negotiating to sell the club.

“In any negotiation environment, if one party has more power than the other then that is significant.

“Here, the buyer has more power because the seller has to sell by a particular date. That can only help with price negotiation.”

Maguire told this site three months ago about the merits of Radrizzani’s multi-club aspirations.

Recruitment and overcoming hurdles caused by Brexit are among the key advantages.
