Leeds United could be plotting a move for Flamengo striker Pedro, a player that is ‘really exciting’ according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The forward is currently in Qatar as part of the Brazil World Cup squad, but he is yet to feature in any of the side’s games, with manager Tite having an array of attacking options, so Jesse Marsch hasn’t had the chance to see his target in action.

Leeds Transfer News – Pedro

According to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs, who spoke to GIVEMESPORT, interest in Pedro on the Whites’ behalf predates the arrival of Marsch, so the Yorkshire club have had their eye on him for quite some time for a transfer switch to Elland Road.

While the club may have been aware of the starlet before they appointed the American, he is also keen on the deal, with Jacobs indicating that the manager is a “big fan” of the potential signing, with his side needing more goals and assists.

Fabrizio Romano outlined Leeds’ intentions to sign the 25-year-old back in the summer, with Coluna Do Fla recently reporting that they ‘dream of Pedro again’, as they plan to launch a new bid to secure his services.

What has O’Rourke said about Pedro?

O’Rourke states that Pedro managing to force his way into such a high-level Brazil squad is a good indicator of his talents, while he also praises him for his performances at club level, telling GIVEMESPORT: “He’s a really exciting player, if a move was to happen for him, he’s got to be a good player to be in that star-studded Brazil squad to be fair.

He’s not had that many minutes at the World Cup but he’s a really highly-rated forward, his goal scoring record stands up as well, he’s scored goals for Flamengo in the Brazilian league and also in the Copa Libertadores. He’s playing at a good high level and I think he’s at a good age as well. So if Leeds were able to lure him to the Premier League, it would be an exciting addition to their forward line.

What are Pedro’s stats for Flamengo?

Since arriving at Flamengo in September 2020, the Brazilian has been exceptional, registering 61 goals and 17 assists in 149 appearances, as per Transfermarkt, averaging more than one goal contribution every other game.

Hailed for his “regular” goal scoring abilities, journalist Guillem Balague also praises the number 9 for his “good control of the ball”, highlighting another layer to his game, which may have been a factor in his Selecao selection.

Pedro is a constant nuisance in the opposition half, averaging 6.33 touches in the attacking penalty area per 90 minutes, as per FBref, a figure that places him in the 92nd percentile compared to his positional peers.

As such, the star would be a fantastic signing for Leeds, and Marsch should prioritise getting his signature at the earliest availability.
