Leeds United ‘would lift the quality of their squad tenfold’ if they succeed in luring Eintracht Frankfurt star Daichi Kamada to Elland Road in the summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Whites may be battling to avoid relegation to the Championship, but it appears director of football Victor Orta and head coach Jesse Marsch are pressing ahead with identifying targets ahead of the summer window opening for business.

What’s the latest news involving Kamada?

According to Football Insider, Leeds are plotting a move for Kamada if they are able to maintain their top flight status.

The report suggests the Whites are in the market for midfield reinforcements and Marsch, who watched the 16-cap Japan international closely during his time in charge of RB Leipzig, is an admirer.

Kamada, who is valued at £19.8million by Transfermarkt, has already put a Premier League side to the sword this season as he scored against West Ham United as Frankfurt went on to book their place in the Europa League final at the east Londoners’ expense.

The attacking midfielder has shown how much of a threat he can be in the final third of the pitch by heading into the weekend having found the back of the net 24 times and registered a further 27 assists in 130 appearances for his current employers.

Kamada is set to enter the final 12 months of his Frankfurt contract in the summer, potentially boosting Leeds’ chances of being able to strike a deal for the 25-year-old.

What has Dean Jones said about Kamada?

Jones believes Leeds’ squad will improve vastly if Leeds tempt Kamada and long-term target Brenden Aaronson to Elland Road.

The transfer insider feels the Whites need to make bolstering their options in the middle of the park a priority if they stave off relegation to the Championship.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I think if he came in alongside Aaronson, he would lift the quality of that squad tenfold. That’s exactly what they’re going to need next season.

“If Leeds stay up, they can’t just be relieved that they’ve survived and slightly upgrade. Leeds need pretty big upgrades all over the pitch.

“I think the key to that is the centre of the park, so it’s something they’re going to look at.”

What’s the latest news on Leeds’ pursuit of Aaronson?

According to The Athletic’s Leeds correspondent Phil Hay, Red Bull Salzburg creative midfielder Aaronson remains a target for the Whites.

It comes after Leeds failed in their attempts to sign the 21-year-old in January as they saw bids of £15million and £20million turned down amid additional interest from RB Leipzig and AC Milan.

It was previously reported by the Daily Star that the Yorkshire giants believe Marsch’s strong links to Aaronson could help them to eventually get a deal over the line.

Marsch selected his fellow American 25 times during his time in the Salzburg dugout.
