The striker spent last season on loan with the Welsh side from Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth, and netted nine times in 35 appearances for the Swans.

The City switch marked his second stint at the Swansea.com Stadium, having joined the side from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2021, before leaving for the Cherries just 12 months later.

And after marking his second departure with an Instagram post, Jacks legend Lee Trundle made his thoughts known on the forward as he leaves for pastures new.

The return to Wales also saw Lowe return to form in the previous campaign, having endured a tough time with Bournemouth, as well as a loan spell with Queens Park Rangers in the 22/23 campaign.

But after agreeing the switch on the final day of last summer’s transfer window, the former Portsmouth man got back into his old habits for his old side, with three goals in his opening five games helping him to reintroduce himself to the Swans faithful.

Further strikes followed against Ipswich Town and Middlesbrough, before his crowning moment came in the Welsh derby against Cardiff City in March of this year, as he scored a late second to settle matters in a 2-0 victory against his side’s arch-rivals.

Upon the expiration of his contract at the Vitality Stadium this summer, the former Hampton and Richmond star had plenty of clubs vying for his signature, with the Owls winning the race for the pacy forward.

And upon the news breaking of his move to Hillsborough, Lowe penned the following message to the Swans’ fans on Instagram:

“Thank you for the memories Swansea City Football Club, I will always have love & respect for this beautiful city, club & fanbase! See you soon… YJB”

Plenty of current Swans stars commented on the striker’s post, including Jamie Paterson, Liam Cullen and Josh Tymon, but one reply stood out among the rest, that of former great Trundle.

The freestyle footballer has near legend-like status among the Jacks after his two stints at the club near the start of the Century, with his record of 78 goals in 146 matches during his first spell at the club speaking for itself.

And upon Lowe’s departure, Trundle wrote: “thanks for the memories Jam x,” accompanied by five flame emojis.

In Swansea City circles there isn’t much greater compliment a player can receive than a fine send off from an all-time great, and a player who shared Lowe’s enthusiasm for playing with a smile on his face.

Jamal Lowe adds to Danny Röhl revolution at Sheffield Wednesday

Wednesday have wasted no time in rebuilding their squad after their miraculous survival campaign in 23/24, with German maestro Danny Röhl setting about transforming the Owls into a more competitive outfit in the coming 12 months.

As well as the introduction of Lowe, the Yorkshire side have also added former Watford goalkeeper Ben Hamer [pictured] to their ranks this summer, as well as ex-Southampton defender Yan Valery, who arrives from Angers in Ligue 1.

Max Lowe has also made the move across the Steel City following his departure from local rivals Sheffield United earlier this summer, while Svante Ingelsson has moved to the club from Hansa Rostock in Röhl’s homeland.

The former Southampton coach worked wonders to keep the Owls in the division last season, with the 35-year-old winning 16 of his 38 matches in charge to turn around his side’s fortunes and help them stay in the second tier.
