Although a move into management is in Lee Cattermole’s thoughts, he isn’t planning to do so at Sunderland anytime soon.
The popular midfielder brought a decade-long association with the Wearsiders to an end this summer when he made a surprise move to VVV-Venlo.
Still only 31, he revealed that the dugout is already in his thoughts but the Stadium of Light is not and he was disappointed to see Jack Ross sacked.
“That’s not something that’s on my mind,” Cattermole told Football Oranje when asked about a coaching comeback.
“Obviously I’m following Sunderland. For the first two months I didn’t but now I am again.
“It is a team that I gave so much time to but I’m really disappointed for Jack Ross.
“He did a fantastic job there. Sunderland’s goal is to get promoted this year and hopefully they can do that.”
Cattermole has featured eight times for VVV this season, quickly establishing himself as a regular in his new surroundings.
