The 50-year-old has overseen three wins and one defeat as interim head coach

Lee Carsley has revealed what's next for him as he prepares to take charge of the England national team for the final time.

The former Everton midfielder was appointed as the Three Lions' interim head coach following the departure of Gareth Southgate shortly after this summer's European Championships, overseeing two international breaks so far.

His record currently stands at an impressive three wins from four games with the solitary defeat coming at the hands of Greece at Wembley Stadium last month.

As a result, this month's double header against Greece and Republic of Ireland will mark Carsley's final games in charge of the senior team as the Three Lions go in search of the results that will see them promoted from Group B2.

With that said, this won't be the end of the 50-year-old's time in and around the national team having revealed his next step will be to return to role with England Under-21s.

“My role will be back with the Under-21s,” Carsley confirmed at a news conference. “A role that I'm really privileged to do, there's full support for the senior team.

“The job and the role is clear, to help produce and develop players for the senior team. And I think I'm in a better position to do that now, I've seen the level that the seniors are operating at, so that'll be the case."

One of Carsley’s final acts as interim England boss has been to name a squad for the UEFA Nations League double-header and he’s decided to call-up the uncapped trio of Curtis Jones, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Lewis Hall.

And according to Carsley, these selection decisions are something that Tuchel had no influence on.

"He hasn't had any influence on the squad selection. I've spoken to him by text, it's literally [just] 'congratulations'," Carsley added "He's highly respectful of the job myself and the staff are doing, so we've been left to it, like we always have.

"I still see this as a massive privilege and the trust that the FA have shown in myself and the staff, in the three camps we've got, these are the final two games.

"We're really looking forward to a tough game in Greece and the Republic of Ireland at home.”
