Lee Carsley believes 'best' manager will be named England boss | OneFootball

Lee Carsley trusts that the Football Association will appoint the 'best' manager for England after the interim boss secured a win in his first game in charge of the Three Lions.

Carsley enjoyed a successful start to life with England's senior team - overseeing a 2-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland in their opening UEFA Nations League fixture. He's set to return to the touchline on Tuesday when England host Finland at Wembley Stadium, during which he'll hope to impress yet again.

While the hunt for Gareth Southgate's permanent replacement continues, Carsley believes the FA will appoint the right manager to lead England to success.

"I try not to think about myself too much," he told reporters ahead of the Finland clash. "The best person should get the job. I know my role for the next three camps and I am comfortable with that."

Carsley also took the time to give an update on the current England squad, ensuring that everyone is fit ahead of Tuesday's fixture.

"We're mindful that we've had six sessions and there are one or two things we've tried to implement. There were a lot of good things happening already and we've tried to make a few adjustments. The players are open to being a bit more risky in certain areas but we don't ask players to be in a position they're not capable of.

"I'm aiming to do a good job each day and see where it goes. The players should be getting the attention. I'm really excited for the game.

"We'll make two or three changes, freshen things up a bit, but the group is really motivated and we should really look forward to the game at a ground like that. I want us to play with that control and be exciting to watch. Fans expect England to create chances at home and play with a tempo. Everyone is fit so no changes there. The way everyone's trained gives them a chance of playing minutes."
