Lecce manager Marco Giampaolo addressed the media on the eve of the match against Roma.
Among the topics discussed, the coach focused on the return to the field after the break for the national teams, underlining the importance of getting back into the rhythm of the game.
Giampaolo also expressed great respect for both the opposing team and his colleague Claudio Ranieri, recognizing their value and experience, also returning to the first leg.
“The most important thing is that when the players return from the national teams they find the mood of the championship. During the break there are different ways of experiencing things, you have to mentally catapult yourself into the match to be played.”
“I have to immediately get into the merits of the match to be played, shifting all the attention to it. The boys have to reset what they did until yesterday.”
“Ranieri, in addition to being a champion on the bench, is a champion in communication. He is a great coach, with experience and skill.”
“Roma has ten wins and three defeats in the last thirteen, so he knows very well that, especially in the week after the break, attention must be kept high, so it is right to send out signals.”
“The first leg? On that occasion I was wrong tactically, for some choices. I take responsibility for that defeat. From there, Roma improved, raised the level, Ranieri played quality players as much as possible.”
“We have tried to improve as much as possible in these months. We have made a path that can be improved, recovering players, but it is still a partial evaluation. We can lose, but we are more of a team than before. I repeat. Then we can and must do better.”
