El Tapatío will have a new Technical Director for the Apertura 2023 Tournament. The Expansion League Champion will be coached by Arturo Ortega, who was in charge of the Rebaño U-20 team last semester m, which remained in the constant fight for the overall leadership and reached the Semifinals, and whose profile is the right one to give continuity to the work and training process of this generation of red and white players.
But, who is Arturo Ortega? A native of Mexico City, the DT is 46 years old, with experience in forming players, since he was in the basic forces of the Gallos Blancos de Querétaro from 2016 to 2019; he arrived at the Chivas U20 in the Clausura 2023, a squad with which he recorded 11 wins, 7 draws and 3 defeats in the 21 matches he played (including the Liguilla).
In addition, he gave the opportunity to Yael Padilla, a promising young player who stood out in the red-and-white U-18 team, to show his talent in the U-20 team and was later observed by the coaching staff of the First Team; from then on, he was a regular attendee at the Rebaño's training sessions and appeared on several occasions in the list of called-up players for Liga MX matches.
Arturo Ortega's coaching staff is made up of Félix Martínez, who was assistant coach of Mazatlán's first team in the previous tournament, and Mario Ortiz as assistant coach, Juan Melo as physical trainer and Sergio Arias as goalkeeper trainer.
We are sure that their experience working with young players will be very valuable in the consolidation of the new talents of the Cantera Rojiblanca.
Success 'profe' Arturo in this new challenge with El Tapatío!
