AC Milan forward Rafael Leao has confirmed that he feels the trust of head coach Stefano Pioli and believes he is adapting well to Serie A.

Leao will be looking for his first goal since January 9 when he takes the field tomorrow night, and the vast majority of reports are suggesting that he will start the second leg of Milan’s Europa League Round of 32 tie against Red Star as the striker.

The 22-year-old’s last goal came against Torino as he opened the scoring at San Siro in Serie A, netting from Brahim Diaz’s assist to help send the Rossoneri on their way to an eventual 2-0 win. While the Portuguese forward cannot be defined as a typical striker, he has scored all six his goals playing in that position.

Leao spoke to Sky Italia on the eve of the game against Red Star, and discussed the group’s desire to react during a difficult moment of the season.

“When we lose, that’s how it is, but we can’t be sad. We want to show everyone what we can to do,” he said.

Asked whether he is getting a better understanding of Italia football, Leao responded: “The Italian league is different from the French one. Now I feel good, everyone helps me to grow. I’m doing well helping the team and I’m happy.”

How important is the trust of Mr. Pioli? “It is very important to have his trust.”
