Former Scotland international Leanne Crichton has been named as the new manager of Rangers.
She joins the club after former boss Jo Potter decided to move on to Crystal Palace earlier this summer.
Crichton represented Glasgow City, Celtic and Hibernian during her playing career.
After coaching spells with Motherwell and Glasgow City, she is now stepping into the world of management for the first time.
Before Potter left for Crystal Palace, Rangers had won the Scottish Women’s Cup and Premier League Cup in back-to-back seasons.
However, they missed out on the Scottish Women’s Premier League title on the final day in both years.
The start of the upcoming Scottish league season comes three weeks after the conclusion of Euro 2025.
Scotland failed to qualify for the tournament which was won by England in a penalty shootout victory over Spain.
Betting sites already have the Lionesses as second-favourites to win the trophy again in four year’s time.
Leanne Crichton explained leaving her previous role at Glasgow City to join local rivals Rangers was “one of the toughest decisions” she had to make.
However, she is determined to continue their trend of winning trophies, while also reclaiming the Scottish league title.
She said: “I would firstly like to thank the fans for the warm welcome, bringing me into the club and accepting me.
“I just ask them to come on that journey with us. We’ll be an exciting team to watch, a successful team. For me, it’s a huge privilege and honour to be here.
“Rangers are renowned with winning. Second best isn’t acceptable here. For us, the aim and the ambition will be to deliver a successful team on the pitch and that silverware is ultimately the goal.”
Before taking the job, Crichton was also a regular pundit on BBC Scotland’s radio and television coverage.
Leanne Crichton has become the manager of Rangers just two weeks before the start of the new Scottish Women’s Premier League season.
They kick off their season on August 17th, with a trip to Montrose.
The rest of their opening five fixtures includes Hearts, Motherwell, bitter rivals Celtic and Partick Thistle.
Rangers have not won the Scottish Women’s Premier League since the 2021-22 season.
To date, it is the only time that the club have won the division which has been dominated by Glasgow City since its inception in 2002.
Hibernian go into the 2025-26 season as champions having beaten Glasgow City by three points.
Rangers had also been in contention on the final day, but ultimately finished six points off the champions after losing to Hibernian on the final day.
