Watford midfielder Leandro Bacuna has said that Tom Dele-Bashiru’s talent is evident to see after the pair manned the centre of the park for the Hornets away at Huddersfield Town last weekend.
With an injury crisis in midfield, Bacuna, despite having been a free agent since the summer and only signing for the club that week, was thrown straight into the starting line up away at the John Smith’s Stadium.
In the end, Bacuna managed 68 minutes of action, and when discussing the match, had praise for his younger midfielder teammate Tom Dele-Bashiru, who himself was only making his second start of the campaign up in Yorkshire.
“He’s got a lot of talent, you can see that.” Bacuna said on the 23-year-old, via the Watford Observer.
“He’s good on the ball and confident going forwards.
“You saw that in the first goal, the way he went forward and then gave the pass to Joao.
“Today [our partnership] was very good.
“Obviously it takes time to get used to each other, but I’m very excited by it.”
Watford next face Millwall in Championship action on boxing day ahead of what is looking a congested festive schedule.
With the injuries the club currently have, there’s every chance we see Bacuna and Dele-Bashiru alongside each other in the centre of the park once again on Boxing Day.
Leandro Bacuna did excellently away at Huddersfield last weekend given his lack of game time.
Indeed, even when everybody returns to full fitness, if he can play to those levels, he could still be a very valuable squad asset.
It was also a really nice touch for Bacuna to speak so glowingly of Tom Dele-Bashiru.
The young midfielder himself has just come into the side in recent weeks so for them to be encouraging of each other only bodes well for the club’s chances on the pitch in the coming weeks.
