Leah Williamson on crutches

Leah Williamson was spotted on crutches as she watched the Lionesses defeat the USA 2-1 on Friday night in a friendly at Wembley.

Earlier this week, the news came through that England captain Leah Williamson had withdrawn from the England squad due to an injury picked up in training.

She returned to Arsenal for further assessment.

There has been no word on what that injury is but the sight of her on crutches, albeit seemingly in very good spirits as she watched alongside Ted Lasso, was not a welcome one.

After the international break, Arsenal return to action on 16 October when they travel to the (I can’t believe this is the name of a ground) Select Car Leasing Stadium to face Reading.

That game will be live on Sky Sports with a 6.45pm kick-off.

Jonas Eidevall will already be without Rafaelle, who suffered a fractured metatarsal in the Champions League qualifying game against Ajax at the end of September.

It has not been all bad news for the Gunners this week, however.

Eidevall is up for Manager of the Month for September, Beth Mead and Rafaelle are up for Player of the Month, and Mead and Stina Blackstenius are up for Goal of the Month.
