In a groundbreaking partnership, Arsenal’s Leah Williamson and TOCA Social have launched ‘Momentum’, a campaign aimed at enhancing women’s engagement in football.
The joint endeavour is set to attract an additional 50,000 women to play and watch the beautiful game within this year.
As the lead consultant on female participation for TOCA Social, Leah is championing this venture.
A well-established name in women’s football, Leah captained England to victory in Euro 2022, sparking a surge in female interest and participation in the sport.
“The Euros was a huge success for Women’s football, it was a message to the world that there is a love and interest for our game out there,” the 26-year-old defender stated.
The ‘Momentum’ campaign has announced three main initiatives, aiming to create an inclusive football environment for women and girls.
This includes reserving a set number of TOCA boxes exclusively for women during the upcoming World Cup, where injured captain Williamson is set to cheer on England.
The campaign also plans to allocate specific boxes throughout school holidays, providing young girls with an opportunity to play.
Furthermore, each TOCA Social location will introduce a weekly ‘Women’s Hour’, offering a designated hour each week solely for women of all ages and skill levels.
TOCA Social’s President, Alex Harman, is hopeful about the potential influence of the campaign.
He said: “TOCA Social’s motto is ‘Everybody Plays’ and we’re particularly committed to helping grow women’s football. The Momentum campaign will showcase passion for the women’s game, while helping make participation more accessible and inclusive for women and girls. We’re excited to see the impact the campaign has.”
