New York City FC vs. Club Léon

The first of a double-header at the Sports Illustrated stadium. Given the recent storms and torrential rains, it will be interesting to see what the field conditions are like. Léon has a shootout loss, and needs a win here to stay in the running. NYCFC suffered 3 – 0 beating at the hands of Puebla. I don’t see them doing much better.

Columbus Crew vs. Puebla

Puebla put the hurt on NYCFC on Tuesday, while Columbus earned a shootout loss against Toluca. On paper these two teams are a fair match, but I think Columbus is fired up to take some revenge.

Toluca vs. CF Montréal

The biggest X factor for this fixture is how the pitch will play, both from the recent rain and that an earlier game will be played directly before this one. CF Montréal was the only MLS side to win on the opening matchday, much against everyone’s expectations. Today, however, they should get a dose of reality from Toluca, who are a stronger side than Léon.

LAFC vs. Pachuca

Expect a riotous atmosphere for this fixture. Both teams have fervent supporters and should pack the BMO Stadium. LAFC will be looking for redemption after coming up short 11 -10 in the penalty shootout with Mazatlán. Pachuga a flying high after defeating San Diego FC. A win here puts them squarely in the driving seat for a top four spot.

Tigres UANL vs. San Diego FC

Tigres embarrassed Houston on Tuesday with a 4 – 1 victory. SDFC fell to Pachuca. So Tigres have everything to play for, and a strong enough squad to challenge San Diego. This should be the premier match of the day. It was a fitting choice for a national broadcast.
