Leyton Orient have made an inquiry to Ipswich Town about the availability of striker Tete Yengi, a report from The East Anglian Daily Times has revealed.

Yengi joined Ipswich back in the summer of 2021, arriving from Australian side Newcastle Jets following a trial period.

While he has yet to feature at senior level for the Tractor Boys, the 20-year-old did impress on loan with Finnish top-flight side Vaasan Palloseura last season, scoring eight times in 29 appearances.

But with his contract at Portman Road expiring in the summer, Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna admitted earlier this month that Yengi is attracting interest from both English and foreign clubs.

Now it seems as though teams are looking to make a move to sign the striker, in the final hours of the window.

According to this latest update, Orient are among the club enquired to Ipswich, about the possibility of signing Yengi, before the window closes.

Are these 20 Ipswich Town facts real or fake?

As things stand, Leyton Orient are currently top of the League Two table, two points clear of second placed Stevenage, and nine ahead of the play-off places.

This does feel as though it could be a rather useful signing for Orient if they can get it done.

With just six points and one goal in their last seven league games, the O’s push for promotion is hitting some worrying stumbling blocks right now.

As a result, it does look as though they could benefit from adding some extra firepower to their ranks, which Yengi’s record suggests he may be capable of providing.

Given his contract situation, which makes this Ipswich’s last chance to cash in, he could be affordable for Orient too, meaning this could be well worth them pursuing before the window closes.
