Wycombe Wanderers are interested in a loan deal for Brighton midfielder Marc Leonard, The Daily Mirror’s David Anderson has reported.

Leonard joined Brighton from Hearts back in 2018, and has been a regular feature for the club’s academy side since then.

The 20-year-old has so far made two senior appearances for the club, both of which have come in the League Cup.

According to this latest update, Wycombe are keen on taking the midfielder on loan for next season, when they will be hoping to compete in the Championship. Now it seems as though Leonard could be set for a temporary elsewhere next season, in search of more regular game time.

The Chairboys will be looking to seal promotion to the second-tier when they face Sunderland in the League One play-off final next Saturday.

However, they are not the only club linked with Leonard, with Eredivisie side Utrecht, and Danish top-flight Bronby also said to be interested in the midfielder.

The Verdict

This could be an interesting signing for Wycombe if they manage to get it done.

Leonard does seem to be a player with a fair amount of potential, so he could be a useful option for Wycombe, whatever division they are playing in next season.

Indeed, this would surely be a good potential move for the midfielder himself, since it will give him the opportunity to play regular first-team football for the first time in his career.

That will obviously be important for his development, although you wonder whether that top-flight interest from abroad could make if difficult for Wycombe to get this deal done.
