Leading Barcelona star ‘has asked to leave’ before close of summer window | OneFootball

A headline member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has requested an immediate departure from the club.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards İlkay Gündoğan as the player in question.

The name of German international Gündoğan has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the day to date.

This comes after he was a late scratch from Barcelona’s matchday squad to face Valencia.

The official word on the matter was that Gündoğan was still suffering the after effects of a heavy blow to the head in the Blaugrana’s meeting with AS Monaco earlier in the week.

Late on Saturday night, however, an altogether different suggestion has been pushed in the media…

As per a report from Sport, Gündoğan is actively seeking out a departure from the Camp Nou before the summer is out:

Amid alleged frustration on the part of the former Manchester City man with the openness of those behind the scenes in Barcelona when it comes to his potential exit, Gündoğan, it is claimed, has put his foot down:

‘The German midfielder has said enough and has already informed both the coaching staff and the sporting department of his desire to agree on an exit before the end of the current summer transfer market,’ Sport conclude.
