Lazio’s next league opponents Cagliari have dismissed head coach Leonardo Semplici.

As announced in an official statement earlier today, the Sardinian side have decided to dismiss the 54-year-old Italian coach after the opening three games of the season, with the team currently sitting 17th in the table with only one point.

Semplici was appointed Cagliari coach back in February 2021 and had an acceptable half-season with the Rossoblu, but his latest efforts have convinced the Sardinian side to look elsewhere.

Why There Is No Need for Lazio & Supporters to Panic Just Yet

Cagliari drew Spezia 2-2 in their season opener, before losing 4-1 to AC Milan. Last weekend they lost 3-2 to Genoa, with the Ligurians coming back from a 2-0 deficit.

The Rossoblu are now working hard to sign a new coach before Sunday’s match against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.

The current options now include Diego Lopez, Claudio Ranieri, Walter Mazzarri, Beppe Iachini and Fabio Liverani.

The Biancocelesti are looking to bounce back against Cagliari following Sunday’s disappointing 2-0 loss to the Rossoneri.
