A section of Lazio fans is under investigation for having used Anti-Semitic chants during the Rome derby against Roma at the weekend.

Sky Italia state that the sports judge in Serie A has asked for further investigations into the anti-Semitic chants used by Lazio’s Curva Nord during the derby, which the Biancocelesti had won 1-0. A decision is expected to arrive by the 4th of April next month.

During the game, a fan was identified as wearing a Lazio jersey which had the name ‘Hitlerson’ with the number 88 printed on it. The president of the Jewish community of Rome, Ruth Dureghello, has already criticised the chants from the Curva Nord, with Federal Prosecutor Giuseppe Chinè now expected to take a look at the audio and video evidence.

Lazio have stated that they have already identified the offenders and they have made it clear that they are distancing themselves from the activity, while also condemning it. A section of the club’s fans had also reportedly made Anti-Semitic chants during the game against Napoli.
