Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani reveals the club is determined to keep Christos Mandas amidst links to Southampton and Wolves.

Over the last few days, several sources between Italy and Greece have tipped the 22-year-old goalkeeper to make the move to the Premier League. They claimed Wolverhampton have made an offer worth €20 million, and the Biancocelesti are inclined to accept.

But whether these reports are true or not, Fabiani denied Lazio’s desire to part ways with the Greek custodian. The 63-year-old insists Mandas is a profile that the club intends to count on for the future while unveiling Lazio’s new signings Gaetano Castrovilli, Loum Tchaouna, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Nuno Tavares to the press (via La Lazio Siamo Noi).

Mandas is not on the market. Like the others who arrived last summer. We have had requests, but at the moment, the decision is to keep the department intact. We are trying to rebuild a path and start a new cycle. We need to be patient and support the new guys to adapt, give them the time they need to become quality players. Mandas has been taken off the market. After all, the team needs two quality goalkeepers. Last season, he responded well in tough matches, so he attracted interest, but that doesn’t mean we are willing to sell him. I believe his future is at Lazio.

The Greece international filled in admirably for the injured Ivan Provedel during the last few months of the previous campaign. But the Italian remains Lazio’s first-choice goalkeeper, with Mandas as his understudy.
