Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has confirmed that he is leaving the Biancocelesti, with the season now having ended.

There was previously talk of Tare’s potential exit and the fact that the relationship between him and Maurizio Sarri had broken down. After Lazio’s Conference League exit, the pair had a verbal spat at the hotel and that clearly showed how their relationship had broken down.

Tare has now confirmed that he is leaving the club after having spent as many as 20 years in the capital city club. His press release stated (via Il Messaggero):

“It was a long and intense adventure, made up of joys, defeats and trophies. I will never stop thanking Claudio Lotito for the opportunities he gave me, the Biancocelesti fans who entered my heart, the club with all its members, players, staff, and all those who have been close to me.”

There was previously talk of the fact that only one of Tare or Sarri would stay at the club and this had brought about question marks about the future of the Italian at the club. But because of Tare’s exit, it seems as if Sarri will now stay at the club.

Lazio have already been linked with a host of players, with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic all but set to leave the club. The midfield could be a key area to bolster, even though Luis Alberto seems close to staying.
