After releasing their half-yearly financial report, Lazio have unveiled the figures behind the sales of Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto.
Despite missing out on Champions League football, the Biancocelesti managed to register a marginal profit as they remain within the good graces of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules. This is partially thanks to the departures of some of the club’s highest earners, and the arrival of less costly replacements.
While Felipe Anderson left as a free agent, Immobile and Alberto were sold to Besiktas and Al-Duhail respectively. The Italian bomber left the capital side after eight unforgettable years. His value on the balance sheet at the time was estimated at €1.310 million. The Biancocelesti only collected €2 million in transfer fees, so it still constituted a small capital gain of €690,000.

On the other hand, Alberto’s departure was more rewarding from a financial perspective. The Spanish playmaker’s value on the club’s books was €1.957 million at the time of his exit, and Lazio sold him to the Qatari club for €10,3 million, thus recording capital gains worth €8.343 million.
So between the two operations, the departed duo yielded capital gains of €9.033 million. Whether the club has managed to replace these influential stars from a sporting standpoint remains a topic of debate, but most fans would agree it was past time for Lazio to open up a new cycle, especially following last season’s turbulent events.
