Lazio reportedly turned down an offer from a Premier League club for goalkeeper Luis Maximiano on transfer deadline day.

The Biancocelesti had a relatively quiet January transfer window, only adding Juventus loanee Luca Pellegrini and unknown winger Diego Gonzalez to their squad. Dimitrije Kamenovic, Riza Durmisi, Gonzalo Escalante and Raul Moro all left on loan, trimming the team a little.

The Roman club will be hoping to complete the departure of Mohamed Fares to Antalyaspor in the coming days, with the Turkish transfer window closing a little later than the rest of Europe.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), in the dying hours of the January transfer window, Lazio received a concrete offer for goalkeeper Luis Maximiano.

An unnamed Premier League side offered a loan deal with a €12m buy option attached for the Portugese goalkeeper, an offer that was rejected by the club and coach Maurizio Sarri himself.

The 24-year-old shot stopper signed for the Biancocelesti in the summer in a deal worth around €10m, signing a five-year deal. His debut went disastrously, seeing him sent off after just six minutes, and he’s since falling down the pecking order behind Ivan Provedel.
