Lazio President Claudio Lotito has revealed that he is constantly receiving threats from Ultras who seek more tickets but he continues to remain defiant.

Italian football has been rocked by a new scandal revolving around members of the Milan and Inter Ultras groups. This issue came to light over the past few days when the Italian anti-mafia police made a series of arrests, including members of the ultras. These persons have allegedly been blackmailing their clubs to receive free tickets before selling them on the black market.

Lotito Continues to Defy Threats

But while Milan and Inter had seemingly given in, the likes of Lazio and Juventus held firm. In an interview with Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Lotito confirmed he’s been the victim of constant threats, forcing him to remain under escort due to his stubborn stance on the matter.

I still live under escort, I receive phone threats, even seven or eight per day, they also hold protests and chants against me, flyers with my grave and candles, but I stand my ground and I don’t give in. Since 2004 I have responded with a firm hand. No season tickets and free tickets, enough with away games paid for by Lazio.

Reason Behind Ultras Protest

The Lazio patron also firmly believes that this issue is behind the constant protests held against him rather than anything to do with the market.

I am against all forms of abuse. I reply with all the legal means at my disposal. The protest has nothing to do with the market or Lazio which, as the facts prove, has not suffered any downsizing. It is an excuse to force me to sell because I have never given in to any privilege.
